Body Confidence

Most of us would be familiar with the ongoing 21st century beauty trends worldwide. Some examples would be the Vsco girl, Eboy, the Kylie Jenner lip challenge and the list goes on. These beauty trends were all created by society and its influencers. Many of us would crave to attempt at least one of these trends not only for the fun of it but also to fit into the crowd or even to look like certain influencers. This has resulted in many young women and men to serious issues such as low self-esteem and low body confidence. Therefore, in this article we are going to further understand the importance of body confidence and how we are able to achieve to it.

Many adolescents tend to face low self-esteem and low body confidence due to the massive beauty standards set by the society. Many think that it is extremely crucial to meet all of those beauty standards just to fit into the crowd. However, that’s an understatement. Beauty standards does not define who you are but the way you portray yourself defines you. The inner beauty has a much more lasting effect than the outer beauty. Many of us tend to wish for a body and face like any other famous boy or girl model. Instead of moderating the food consumed and exercising frequently, many tend to end up with eating disorders. Some examples are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating. These habits are extremely bad and requires a lot of effort and strength to get rid of once caught in it. Instead of acquiring the bad habits we can acquire the good habits and live a healthy lifestyle and increase our confidence level.

Dove is a famous soap brand as most may be known of but they are also an active advocate for body confidence in which they help young women to gain body confidence and to love themselves. There are many ways we can love ourselves and it is important to have self-love to eventually gain self-confidence for our body which will improve our self-esteem. Firstly, the key to loving yourself is to embrace and appreciate yourself. It can be your body, face or even your habits but you have to grow to love it instead of finding a way to change it. Once you succeed in that it would already make yourself a much livelier and amazing person. Secondly, never compare yourself. When u compare yourself to others it doesn’t help you improve instead it brings your moral lower. Therefore, you should have your own set of goals and achievements because in the end of the day you are living your life for yourself and not for anyone else.  Lastly, take care of yourself in which pamper yourself once in a while. Some examples would be having a skin care day or do something that you enjoy doing. This will not only physically help but also mentally improve yourself.

In conclusion, we live in a world which tend to influence easily and we should not let yourselves get carried away and get influenced by it. Instead, we should be strong and love our self for who we are and what we have become. In the end of the day, no one will love you as much as you love yourself.
